-- Haiti: Canadian Consular Bulletin --

On January 12, 2010, a magnitude-7.0 earthquake struck near Port-au-Prince with multiple aftershocks. Casualties have been reported. The earthquake caused extensive damage to local infrastructure. Power, telecommunications, and other services are severely disrupted. Travelers should avoid affected areas and monitor local media reports.

 

-- Guinea: Yellow Fever --

According to WHO, 1 confirmed and 6 suspected human cases of yellow fever have been reported since December 2009 in Mandiana Prefecture (Kankan) in the eastern part of the country, near the border with Cote d'Ivoire (where an outbreak has also been confirmed). Shoreland continues to recommend vaccination for all travelers over 9 months of age.
